Candidates: Interested in running for office in Springfield? We need YOU!
Springfield Township Commissioners serve four-year terms. Commissioners for Wards 2, 4, and 6 will be elected in the November 2025 general election. Similarly, School Board members serve four-year terms; four will be elected in November 2025. (Commissioners for Wards 1, 3, 5, and 7, as well as the five other School Board Directors will be elected next in November 2027). You can find general information about how to run for office by visiting the Montgomery County website.
The Springfield Township Democratic Committee (STDC) endorses commissioner and school board candidates who share our values. All candidates interested in being considered for an STDC endorsement should submit a letter of interest and a current resume through this google form, OR via email to SpringfieldDemsMontco@gmail.com by the deadline, January 10, 2025.
Please note the following:
Candidates must be registered Democrats residing in the ward/town in which they seek office, demonstrate how they share STDC’s values, and communicate how they will serve their constituents.
The Recruitment and Nominating Committee will hold interviews on a rolling basis, and will make endorsement nominations to STDC in February, 2025. Only duly elected or appointed STDC committee people can vote on STDC endorsements. If no single candidate receives at least 60% of the STDC vote, no endorsement will be made.
All interested and qualified candidates, new and incumbent, will be considered. STDC is committed to a fair, transparent, and inclusive endorsement process, open to all Springfield Township registered Democratic voters, who reside within the ward in which they seek office, regardless of race, color, creed, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, ethnic identity or economic status.
Please direct any questions or concerns about this process to the Chair of STDC, at SpringfieldDemsMontco@gmail.com.
